November 21, 2011
DECORAH, Iowa - Bobby Fong had 23 points and Stu Neville 11, but Luther overcame a nine-point deficit and used a second half run to defeat St. Olaf 65-55 in a non-conference men's basketball game on Monday night at the Regents Center.
Fong was 3-for-6 from the arc and added seven rebounds in the losing effort.
Luther was led by Dane Larson's 14 points and 10 from Michael Crocker off the bench.
The Oles (1-1) had a lead of nine (23-14) in the first half and held a five-point advantage with 6:10 to play before the Norse rallied. After Connor Gunderson's jumper gave St. Olaf a 52-47 lead, the Norse went on a 16-0 run, fueled by 5-of-6 shooting during the stretch. The Oles, meanwhile, missed six straight field goals to go with six straight missed free throws and two turnovers in the four-minute span.
St. Olaf hits the road for a two-game set in California, where it will play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer this weekend.
