Men's hockey holds off SMU 5-2

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kevin Harris scored twice as the St. Olaf men's hockey team topped Saint Mary's University 5-2 on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
Harris had the game's first goal -- at 2:33 of the first period -- and added a second period goal that gave the Oles a 4-1 lead. St. Olaf (7-2-2, 3-1-1 MIAC) also had goals from Britton Smith, Austin Wetmore and Derek Grogan. Jeff Harris and Bryan Glynn chipped in a pair of assists each, as St. Olaf stayed within a point of MIAC leader St. Thomas (4-1-0).
The Oles held a 43-21 advantage in shots over the Cardinals (1-8-0), who had goals from Kevin Wentland and A.J. Mueller.
The teams complete the home-and-home series tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Winona, Minn.
