UST tips Ole women

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Taylor Young had a game-best 27 points to lead St. Thomas, which used a 12-4 run late in the second half, in a 62-57 MIAC women's basketball win over host St. Olaf on Tuesday night at Skoglund Center.

Young hit all 11 free throws she attempted as the Toms went 20-for-23 from the charity stripe. St. Olaf, which was whistled for 21 fouls to UST's 11, was 6-for-10 from the line.

The Oles (7-1, 4-1 MIAC) were led by Eileen O'Donoghue's 14 points and 12 from Kirstee Rotty. St. Olaf stayed in the game by knocking down 7-of-15 from the arc. O'Donoghue made each of her two attempts while Addy Bates made 2-of-4 off the bench.

Each team was turnover-ridden. St. Olaf had a season-high 24 while UST committed 18.

Each team is off until a January 2, when St. Thomas hosts Saint Ben's and St. Olaf has a meeting with Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
