Men's alpine wins first USCSA race

AFTON, Minn. - The men's alpine ski team opened with a strong showing at the first USCSA race of the year at Afton Alps in Afton, Minn. The Oles took the top five spots in both days of competition.

In Saturday's Slalom, Max Lund won the race. He was followed by Nick Stang who finished second. Paal Proitz was third, Matt Hoffman fourth and Jack Stang fifth.

In Sunday's Giant Slalom, Paal Proitz won the race. Max Lund was second, Nick Stang third, Florian Weil fourth, Haakon Schonheyder fifth and Matt Hoffman seventh.

The 2011-2012 ski season is dedicated to St. Olaf ski alumnus DJ Tengdin. DJ passed away on April 1, 2011. He will be missed; he will be remembered.
