Women's alpine wins first USCSA race

AFTON, Minn. - The women's alpine ski team opened with a strong showing at the first USCSA race of the year at Afton Alps in Afton, Minn. The Oles took four of the top eight spots in both days of competition.

In Saturday's Slalom, Katie Ulvestad won the race and was closely followed by Kathleen Stefely who finished third. Madison Mclachlan was fourth, Alex Anderson was sixth and McKenna McNabb was eighth.

In Sunday's Giant Slalom, Madison McLachlan placed second, Katie Ulvestad third, McKenna McNabb seventh and Kathleen Stefely eighth.

The 2011-2012 ski season is dedicated to St. Olaf ski alumnus DJ Tengdin. DJ passed away on April 1, 2011. He will be missed; he will be remembered.
