MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - St. Thomas' Rob Vannelli scored twice, including the game-winning power play goal with a minute left in overtime, as the host Tommies escaped with a 2-1 win and series sweep over visiting St. Olaf in a MIAC men's hockey game on Saturday night.
Each of Vanelli's goals were on the power play and came on assists from Travis Baker and Riley Horgan. Vanelli's first goal came at 2:00 of the first period.
St. Olaf, which tied the game on a Charlie Raskob goal at 16:46 of the first, had a 31-save night from goalie Ben Leis.
