Weiss and Feldman get victories, Oles break relay record and are second after first day of MIAC's

MINNEAPOLIS - St. Olaf junior Meghan Weiss won the 500 Free and swam on a school record-breaking relay to lead the Oles to second place after the first of three days at the MIAC Championships on Thursday at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
Lydia Feldman was the Oles' other winner on Thursday, taking first in the 200 IM in a NCAA B cut time of 2:08.38. St. Olaf sophomore Lindsey Lee was the team's other finalist in the event, finishing eighth.
Weiss won the 500 with a 4:57.40, which is a NCAA B cut and is ahead of the selection time from 2011. Teammate Lauren Snyder (5:09.39) was fourth in the event.
Carolyn Bernhardt was the Oles' top finisher in the 50 Free, with her fifth-place 24.08.
Bernhardt, Lee, Feldman and Weiss teamed for the Oles second place swim in the 400 Medley Relay in school record and NCAA B cut time of 3:53.14. The foursome broke their own record from last season's MIAC's (3:53.54).
