Gratz, Kubat get wins as Oles take two relays

MINNEAPOLIS - Michael Gratz won his second individual event of the MIAC Championships on Friday night, while teammate Colby Kubat swam to victory in the 100 Breast and St. Olaf won two relays on the second of three days at the MIAC Championships.

St. Olaf trails St. Thomas by a mere 10 points, 489-479, entering Saturday's finale.

Gratz set a meet record with his 200 Free victory in a a NCAA B cut 1:39.71.

Kubat won the 100 Breast title in dominating fashion, winning in a NCAA A cut :55.95, which ranks second in school history.

The Oles won both relays on Friday, taking the 200 IM (Joel Money, Kubat, Chase Liaboe, Gratz) in 1:33.76 and the 800 Free Relay (Scarth, Gratz, Liaboe, Kubat) in a NCAA B cut 6:49.50.

Spencer Scarth (4:03.73) and Evan Griffith (4:05.59) earned NCAA B cuts with their 2-3 finish in the 400 IM.
