Westby, Novacinski lead Oles at Univ. of Minn. Parent's Day Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - St. Olaf's Maren Westby and Moriah Novacinski led the Oles at the Univ. of Minn. Parent's Day Open on Saturday, finishing ahead of notable Division I, II and III runners.
Novacinksi finished fifth in the 1,000, running a career best 3:00.50. Haley Johnson of Carleton College finished a stride ahead in 2:59.86, which is the top mark in the MIAC so far this season. Jamie Vandenberg of the Univ. of Minn. won the event in 2:56.60.
In her first attempt in the mile this season, Maren Westby finished eighth with a near-best 5:12.43.
Emily Stets finished ninth in the 600 (1:40.81), which ranks third in the MIAC honor roll.
Dani Larson's 59.44 in the 400 was the top MIAC time.
St. Olaf hosts the Ole Open Qualifier next Saturday. Running and field events start at 11 a.m.
