Alpine wins USCSA regional championships, qualifies for nationals

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The alpine ski team won the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Regional Championships and qualified for the USCSA National Championships.

The Oles lived up to their national ranking this past weekend in Marquette, Mich. at the Regional Championships, winning both the Slalom and Giant Slalom events. The fourth ranked women's team dominated the top five spots in each event. St. Olaf took five of the top eight spots in Slalom and four of the top six spots in Giant Slalom.

In the Slalom, Katie Ulvestad was the top Ole finisher, placing 3rd. She was followed by Madison McLachlan (4th), Kathleen Stefely (5th), Alex Anderson (6th), and McKenna McNabb (8th).

In the Giant Slalom, Katie Ulvestad was again the top Ole finisher placing 2nd. She was followed by Madison McLachlan (4th), McKenna McNabb (5th), Mirand Ness (6th) and Alex Anderson (10th).

The Oles travel this weekend to LaCrosse, Wis. to participate in the Dan Nagy memorial race. Dan was a captain of the St. Olaf Alpine Ski Team in 1996-97 and 1997-98. He passed away in a plane crash in 2006.
