Women's hockey clinches playoff berth with 2-1 win over Wildcats

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Lisa Tuuri's third period goal guided St. Olaf to a 2-1 MIAC women's hockey win over St. Catherine University on Friday night, giving the host Oles a berth in the five-team MIAC postseason.

Tuuri's game-winner came on a feed from Alison Umland at 2:43 of the final frame.

Taylor Orr scored the Oles' other goal, at 4:48 of the first, and Sam Ubl made 19 saves to earn the victory in net.

The playoff appearance in the Oles' eighth in the last nine seasons and makes six of seven under head coach John Bazzachini. It also marks the first time in the current playoff structure that all four St. Olaf winter team sports (men's and women's basketball, men's and women's hockey) have advanced to the postseason.
