ST. PAUL, Minn. - Dani Larson was named MIAC's field athlete of the week after she won the high jump with a top-four national performance and tied for first in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday at the Ole Open Qualifier.
The Oles' rookie cleared the bar at 1.71 meters (5-07.25 feet) to record the best jump in the MIAC this season by nearly three inches.
Larson's time of 9.31 also helped her tie for the win in the 60-meter hurdles, and that time is tied for the second-best effort in the conference this season.
In addition, Larson added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.50 seconds, and her season-best time of 59.44 seconds has her in the top six in that event in the MIAC.
The Oles will travel to St. Paul this week as Macalester College hosts the 2012 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Leonard Center. The event begins Thursday with the multi-event competitions, then continues Friday and concludes Saturday afternoon.
