BU uses third period flurry to extend game, beat Oles in OT

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Biz Huss scored three times, including twice in a 41-second span of the third period, as Bethel overcame a 3-1 deficit and eventually defeated St. Olaf 5-4 in the first round of the MIAC women's hockey playoffs at Northfield Ice Arena on Tuesday night.
The visiting Royals (12-10-4) got the game-winner at 6:01 of the overtime session from Molly Eagles, on an assist from Haley Toter to send Bethel to the event's semifinals on Thursday at top-seeded Gustavus.
St. Olaf (9-13-4) had two goals from Margot Fleming and an goal and an assist from Alison Umland in the loss. The Oles, despite being outshot by a 51-28 margin, had leads of 2-0 and 3-1. Umland gave St. Olaf a 1-0 lead with her first period, unassisted goal at 12:10. Lisa Tuuri followed with a goal at 18:37 of the first to make it 2-0.
Fleming's score gave St. Olaf a 3-1 lead in the first minute of the third, before Bethel scored three unanswered. The Royals' Cristina Masten made it 3-2 with her goal in the seventh minute, just before Huss scored at 10:18 and 10:59 to give Bethel a 4-3 lead.
With an extra skater, St. Olaf tied the game on Fleming's second goal, at 18:39.
