MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- The St. Olaf women's tennis team won their second MIAC match in as many days by defeating St. Catherine University 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The back-to-back wins extended the Oles winning streak to five matches, including three conference wins. Seniors Caitlin Harper and Christine Muller led the way by teaming up for a doubles win, before each of them won their singles matches against the Wildcats.

St. Olaf gained a slender early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches. After splitting the second and third doubles matches, the first doubles match featuring Harper and Muller against Michaela Burroughs and Maria Koval took center stage. The match went to a tie-breaker and, after each team had match points, Harper and Muller narrowly came out on top to move to 3-0 in the conference so far. Andrea Jumes and Lizzy Eggert were the other winning pairing for the Oles, as the duo shut out April Fard and Mackenzie Weber 8-0.

Harper and Muller carried over the momentum they gained from their doubles win to singles, as they each picked up 6-4, 6-1 wins at the top two spots. Julia Ellis, Erin Hynes, and Lizzie Carlson also earned straight-set victories for the Oles. Harper, Muller, and Ellis are each 4-1 on the season, while Carlson has won all three of her MIAC matches. Hynes sits at a perfect 4-0 at fifth singles in her first season as an Ole. The lone defeat in singles play for St. Olaf was at fourth singles, where Mackenzie Weber topped Kristi Kroker 6-4, 6-3.

St. Catherine's falls to 3-3, 1-2 in the MIAC, while St. Olaf is 5-0, 3-0 in the conference. On Saturday, St. Olaf travels to Rochester Tennis Center to face Luther. The Oles and Norse were schedule to play each other last spring but the match was canceled due to weather. St. Olaf edged Luther 5-4 in 2009-10.
