Softball shut out in opener, rebounds with 4-2 win to gain split with Auggies

MINNEAPOLIS - The St. Olaf softball team dropped a 5-0 decision to Augsburg in game one, but rebounded with a 4-2 victory in the second to earn a MIAC doubleheader split.
Game One: Augsburg 5, St. Olaf 0 St. Olaf was held to four hits while committing four errors as the Auggies picked up a 5-0 shutout win in the opener.
Esti Zimmerman went 2-for-3 for the Oles in the loss.
Emily Smith was 3-for-3 and Kelsey Rorabeck 2-for-3 for the Auggies, who scored two in the third and two more in the fifth to open up a 4-0 lead.
Game Two: St. Olaf 4, Augsburg 2 Jess Wilson and Nikki Frogner were each 2-for-3 as St. Olaf plated two runs in the seventh inning to gain a three-run cushion and hold off the Auggies, 4-2, in game two.
Frogner's double in the seventh set the table for the two-run rally.
Jessica Green got the win for the Oles, scattering nine hits while striking out seven in a complete game effort.
