Oles win 12-inning thriller in game one, complete sweep of St. Kate's

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The St. Olaf softball team scored on a wild pitch in the 12th inning to beat St. Catherine 2-1 in game one, then picked up a 4-2 victory in game two to complete a MIAC softball sweep on Saturday afternoon.
Game One: St. Olaf 2, St. Kate's 1 (12 Inn.)
Haley Schreier scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 12th inning as St. Olaf escaped with a 2-1 win over St. Kate's in the opener. Schreier, placed at second prior to the inning, moved to third on a Nikki Frogner single and, with Natalie Mironov hitting, she scored on the errant delivery.
Mironov went 4-for-5 while Frogner, Schreier and Jess Wilson each went 2-for-6 for the Oles in the win. St. Olaf held a 13-4 advantage in hits.
Amy Prok went the distance for the Oles, striking out four while allowing four hits and four walks in the 12 innings of work.

Wilson and Julie Fergus were each 2-for-3 as the Oles rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pick up the 4-2 win.
Trailing by a run in the fourth, the Oles collected two hits, a walk and a hit by pitch to regain the lead. In the fifth, the Oles added a run on a two-out double by Wilson.
Jess Green threw a complete game, scattering five hits and three walks while striking out six.
