Bethel sweeps Oles in MIAC softball doubleheader

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Bethel University scored a pair of MIAC softball wins over visiting St. Olaf on Wednesday, winning the first game 5-4 in eight innings and the second 3-0.
Game One: Bethel 5, St. Olaf 4 St. Olaf scored three times in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead and a single run in the top of the eighth to lead 4-3, but Bethel used rallies of its own to defeat the Oles 5-4 in eight innings.
St. Olaf committed two of its four errors in the eighth inning, sparking the Royals' two-run rally.
Kayla Gronli had run-scoring singles in the seventh and eighth innings. Gronli was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Maggie Scholer's two-out, two-run single in the seventh gave the Oles a 3-2 lead. Julie Fergus also had two hits in the loss.
Game Two: Bethel 3, St. Olaf 0 BU's Genna Bock limited St. Olaf to two hits as the Royals scored one in the second and two in the fifth to complete the sweep with a 3-0 victory.
Jessica Green tossed a complete game for the Oles, allowing one earned run on seven hits while walking none.
