Women's golf third after first day of NCAA's

ANGOLA, Ind. - Molly Erickson's 76 led the St. Olaf women's golf team in the on Tuesday in the first of four rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at Zollner Golf Course.

The Oles trail Williams College by seven strokes. 14-time defending champion Methodist University is three strokes back in second place.

Erickson overcame a triple bogey on the par-3 second hole, by finishing even on the back nine. She made a bogey on 11, then five straight pars, a birdie on the 148-yard par 3 17th before finishing with a par on the 471-yard par five.

Molly Knutson was two strokes back of Erickson at six-over, while first year Maxine Carlson fired an 80 (+8).

The four-round event resumes on Wednesday. The first St. Olaf tee time is at 1:20 p.m. EST.
