Ole men finish seventh at MIAC Track and Field Championships

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's track and field team finished seventh at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which wrapped up on Saturday evening at Concordia College-Moorhead.
St. Olaf took four of the eight scoring spots in the 1,500. Sophomores Stefan Lemke (3:34.72) and Brian Saksa (3:55.15) were second and third while first year Grant Wintheiser (3:55.78) was fourth. Senior Reid Gilbertson rounded out the scorers with a seventh place run.
Brandon Berger collected a third place effort in the 110 meter hurdles. Berger also picked up points as he was fifth in the triple jump.
The Oles had a 4-6 finish in the 800, as sophomore Brian Tomlinson was fourth and junior Evan Olson sixth.
St. Olaf sophomore John Christian was seventh in the 5,000 and first year teammate Phillip Meyer eighth.
In the field events the Oles' John Bennett scored twice, finishing eighth in the shot put and seventh in the hammer. Two other St. Olaf throwers placed in the hammer, as Drew Eid was sixth and Ethan Smith eighth. The other scorer from field events came from JB Tut, who was third in the high jump.
