Ole women drop soccer opener to UW-Stout

NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf women's soccer team lost their season opener to UW-Stout 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
Freshman midfielder Jenna Kizlik scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute to hand the Blue Devils the win.
St. Olaf outshot UW-Stout 9-6 for the game, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Kizlik led the Blue Devils with four shots, while first-years Kajsa Brindley and Madison Van Wylen had two shots apiece for the Oles. The Oles held a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Shelby made six saves in net for UW-Stout to pick up a season-opening win.
St. Olaf travels to Luther on Wednesday to face the Norse at 5 p.m. The Oles have topped the Norse four years in a row, including a 2-1 win in double overtime last fall.
