UW-Stevens Point scrapes by Ole women's soccer 1-0

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - UW-Stevens Point got a goal from Sarah Vitale just before the half to earn a 1-0 win over St. Olaf on Sunday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
The goal came at the 42:49 mark of the first half.
The Pointers held a 10-8 advantage in total shots over the course of the game.
Midfielder Sammy Greer had a game-high three shots for UW-Stevens Point, while Kelsey Majerus and Jessica Ruch each had two. St. Olaf was led by Emily Sierakowski and Kajsa Brindley, who each had two shots.
Kristen Churkey made four saves in net for the Pointers to earn the shutout and she improves to 3-1-0 on the season. Nora Forbes took the loss for the Oles and falls to 2-2-0. Forbes made three saves in the game.
St. Olaf opens their MIAC schedule on Wednesday at Gustavus. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. in St. Peter. The Pointers defeated the Gusties 4-0 earlier this season.
