Oles lose twice on Saturday to close Cornell tourney

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The St. Olaf volleyball team lost twice on Saturday, to Wartburg College and UW-Eau Claire, to close the Cornell Classic.

Wartburg def. St. Olaf 25-19, 25-23, 25-17
Wartburg's Maddie Forsyth had 13 kills to lead the Knights (11-1) to a three-set win over the Oles.

St. Olaf was led by Melissa Burch and Maggie Prunty, who had eight kills apiece. The Oles held leads of 18-13 and 23-21 in the second set, but Wartburg scored the set's final four points.

UW-Eau Claire def. St. Olaf 25-27, 19-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13
The Blugolds rallied from a 2-0 set deficit to defeat the Oles (4-9) in five.

Melissa Burch had 15 kills and Ari Carlson 12 for the Oles, while hitting .342 and .393 respectively. Kersten Bork added 42 set assists and Kirstee Rotty had 31 digs.

The Oles scored the first three points of the decisive fifth set, but UW-Eau Claire scored three straight to tie the set at 3-3 and closed the match with a 3-1 rally. Anne Satterlee had 19 kills and Amy Bomgren 15 to pace the Blugolds.

Bork was named to the all-tournament team after picking up 161 set assists (9.47/set) in the Oles' four matches
