Erickson wins College City Challenge as Oles place second

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Molly Erickson fired a final round 75 to win the two-day College City Challenge by six strokes on Sunday as the St. Olaf women's golf team was second in the seven-team event.

Erickson made nine pars over her final 10 holes to pick up her second event win in as many tries. She used only 28 putts on Saturday and 32 on Sunday on the way to the title.

The Oles' Molly Knutson came in with a 79 on Sunday to finish seventh in the 51-player event. Knutson made 11 pars and a birdie in the final round.

St. Olaf will play in the Gustavus Invitational next weekend in the team's final tuneup for the MIAC Golf Championships Oct. 6-8 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. St. Olaf won its first league title in school history last fall.
