Book gets 700th career win as Oles get past St. Kate's

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Head coach Cindy Book eclipsed 700 career wins as her St. Olaf volleyball team defeated St. Catherine University on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
Book becomes the third active coach in NCAA Division III women's volleyball history to reach 700 wins -- joining Rich Rich Luenemann of Wash U and Julie Jenkins of Trinity (Texas) -- and the eighth overall.
Melissa Burch had 10 kills in the win for the Oles (9-19, 5-3 MIAC), who snapped a six-match losing streak in the process. Kersten Bork added 35 set assists and Kirstee Rotty 25 digs in the victory.
Stephanie Meschke had 13 kills and Brittni Wangerin 11 for the Wildcats (13-15, 3-5 MIAC).
St. Olaf weathered a 7-2 first set run by St. Kate's, scoring the final three points to win the set 25-22. SCU raced ahead 10-2 and won the second set, 25-19. The Oles jumped to a 10-5 lead in and won third set (25-19) and took control midway through the decisive fourth (25-18) to win the match.
