Ole women drop season-opener to Pointers

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - UW-Stevens Point scored the game's final three goals in a 5-2 non-conference women's hockey victory over host St. Olaf in the season-opener for each school.
St. Olaf had goals from Jessica Pate and Devyn Hotho in the loss. Pate scored the game's first goal in the second minute (1:44) on an assist from Margot Fleming while Hotho's unassisted score tied the game at 2-2 at the 5:53 mark of the second.
Brooke Hanson regained the lead for the Pointers later in the period with a score at 9:42. UW-Stevens Point added a pair of insurance goals in the third period - Cassandra Salmen at 2:16 and Shauna Bollinger in the 13th minute. Bollinger had two goals, as she scored at the 5:05 mark of the first to give Point a 2-1 lead.
Sam Ubl made 31 saves in the defeat for St. Olaf, while the Pointers' Janna Beilke-Skoug had 29 to get the win.
The teams finish the non-conference set tomorrow at 2 p.m.
