St. Olaf men, second in region, host NCAA Division III Central Region Championships

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf men's cross country enter the NCAA Division III Central Region Cross Country Championships ranked second as they host the meet this Saturday.
The Ole men enter the meet ranked second in the Central Region and 28th nationally. After winning the 2012 MIAC Championship title, the Oles look to compete with Central (Iowa) No. 22. St. Olaf is the only team from the MIAC in the national poll and only one of two from the Central Region.
The Ole men had five in the top 20 individual finishers at MIAC Championships at Como Park on October 27. Sophomore Grant Wintheiser was the overall champion finishing 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher (25:08.1). Junior Brian Saska returned from an injury for only his second meet of the season, finishing eighth (25:50.9). The team championship was fourth in school history and Wintheiser was the fifth Ole men's champion.
St. Olaf men placed seventh earlier this season at the Roy Griak Invitational while Central (Iowa) finished fourth. Individually, Wintheiser finished third, three places ahead of Central's front runner Eli Horton. Freshmen Cole Decker and junior Austin O'Brien are also top Central runners pose challenges Oles.
The men race at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the women's race at 12 p.m.
