Pipers, Oles skate to 2-2 women's hockey draw

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf and Hamline skated to a 2-2 MIAC women's hockey tie on Friday night at Northfield Ice Arena.
St. Olaf led 2-0 into the third before the Pipers' Jordan Verleye scored twice in a 32-second span in the opening minute of the final period. The goals were set up by a pair of St. Olaf penalties in the final minute of the second.
St. Olaf had goals from Nicole Stumpf -- at 14:55 of the first -- and Courtney Nelson. Nelson's power-play score at 7:32 of the second period came on assists from Umland and Margo Fleming. Umland and Sara Lind assisted on Stumpf's goal.
The Pipers' Sarah Schneekloth made 42 saves, including a combined 21 in the third period and overtime. St. Olaf netminder Sam Ubl had 28 saves in the tie.
The teams meet tomorrow night in St. Paul at 8 p.m.
