Lee and Johnson lead Ole women to eighth place finish at NCAA's

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Emma Lee and Jorden Johnson each finished in the top ten, as the St. Olaf women's cross country team finished eighth at the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Course.

Lee led the Oles with her fifth place finish. The senior finished with a time of 21:19.6. Johnson, a sophomore, completed the course in 21:25.4, which was good for ninth overall. Both Lee and Johnson earned All-American honors as a result of their top 10 finishes.

Senior Becca Bevans (22:45.9) was 103rd, while junior Meggie Exner (22:55.9) and Moriah Novacinski (23:27.8) were 125th and 199th, respectively. Seniors Allison Brandt and Andi Gomoll finished 214th and 250th, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's Christy Cazzola won the individual title with a time of 20:53.3. Alison Steinbrunner, of Ohio Northern, was second in 21:08.9. Johns Hopkins won the team title with 158 points, while Wartburg was second with 221.

The Oles were competing in the NCAA's for the third straight year. This year, the team improved on their 10th-place finish in 2011 and 24th-place finish in 2010.
