KANSAS CITY, Kan. - St. Olaf junior David Rosenthal was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-North Region third team on Wednesday, the group announced.

Rosenthal, a two-time All-MIAC honoree, led St. Olaf with 12 goals and nine assists in the Oles' 11-6-1 campaign this fall. He had three game-winners and was a perfect 4-for-4 on penalty kicks. He ranked third in conference play with eight goals, fifth in assists (5) and had two-game winners in MIAC play.

He was named a captain -- with Adam Hadro and Stephen Johnson -- for the 2013 season. Hadro was sidelined with an injury in 2012 while Johnson, an All-MIAC honoree and 2012 team MVP, had four goals and an assist this fall.

The team also awarded its best newcomer award to the tandem of Claudio Barboza and Kevin Skrip.

The organization also announced that the St. Olaf men's and women's teams earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for 2011-12.
