Aeikens' double-double not enough as Ole men lose lead, game at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - St. Olaf first year Riley Aeikens had 17 points and 11 rebounds, but host UW-Eau Claire overcame an 11-point deficit to top the Oles 69-62 on Friday night at Zorn Arena.

Aeikens went 7-for-15 from the field and was one of four Oles in double figures in the loss. Matt Hultgren and Sterling Nielsen had 12 each and Josh Pratt 11 points for the Oles (3-4), who went a mere 1-for-14 from the arc.

UW-Eau Claire wasn't much better from long range, as the Blugolds (6-6) were 4-of-22. Lewis Mau had 15 points while Nick Craggs had 12 and nine rebounds in the win.

St. Olaf led 37-30 at the half and scored four quick points to take a 41-30 advantage. The Blugolds chipped away and tied the game at 49-49 midway through the half. The Oles took their last lead at 60-59 with 3:04 left. In the final three minutes, St. Olaf was 0-for-5 from the field with a pair of turnovers.

St. Olaf finishes the event tomorrow with a meeting with UW-Superior at 3 p.m.
