NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Emily Thesing hit a 15-foot stepback jumper at the buzzer as Concorida College overcame a 27-point second half deficit to top St. Olaf 61-59 in a MIAC women's basketball game on Wednesday at Skoglund Center.
Thesing had a team-best 16 points as the Cobbers (6-3, 5-1) made six straight field goals, including four three-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half. St. Olaf led 41-18 at the break, but stumbled down the stretch, scoring just five points in the final 9:29.
Elise Raney had 19 points, four blocks and seven rebounds to lead St. Olaf (3-6, 1-5 MIAC), which dropped its third MIAC game by three points or less. Mackenzie Wolter added 13 points and Erin Haglund 10, all in the first half.
Wolter hit a three-pointer with 10:40 left and a jumper at 9:29 to give the Oles an 11-point lead. The Oles then had four turnovers and went 1-for-8 from the field and 0-for-2 from the line over the next seven minutes to bring the Cobbers within a point. With the game tied in the final minute, Wolter had a layup in the paint miss to set up Thesing's heroics.
Tricia Sorensen and Alley Fisher had 12 points each for the Cobbers.
