UW-Stevens Point gets early lead, knocks off Oles 5-2

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - UW-Stevens Point raced to a 4-0 lead and held off visiting St. Olaf 5-2 in a non-conference men's hockey game on Friday night at KB Willett Arena.

Jeff Harris and Bryan Glynn scored in the first and ninth minutes of the third period for St. Olaf to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Pointers' Garrett Ladd added an insurance goal at 14:06.

The Pointers (9-6-1) had goals from five different players and assists from seven others in the victory. Matt Geurts assisted on Harris' goal while Dylan Porter and Geoff Gieni had assists on the Glynn score for St. Olaf, which was playing its first game since Dec. 1.

The Oles (5-7-1) will play at No. 5 St. Norbert College tomorrow at 7 p.m.
