Oles dominate first collegiate alpine ski race of the season

WAUSAU, Wisc. - The St. Olaf women's alpine team won both the Slalom and Giant Slalom races this weekend at the Granite Peak led by Katie Ulvestad's wins in both events at the Granite Peak USCSA Race, which finished on Sunday.

The Oles took three of the top four spots, with Ulvestad's first place finish, Maddey McLachlan taking second, and Laura Post earning fourth. Lisa Koetke (seventh) and Miranda Ness (tenth) rounded out the Oles' top 10 finishers.

In the giant slalom St. Olaf once again proved superior, taking five of the top ten spots. Led once again by Ulvestad's first place finish, the Oles also had Nathalie Kenny in second, Maddey McLachlan taking third, Laura Post (seventh), Lisa Koetke (eighth) and Miranda Ness (tenth) placing.

The Ole women dominated the field the entire weekend, finishing with only 7 place points while second place UWMAD ended the weekend with 29 points in the slalom. In the giant slalom, St. Olaf finished with a mere six points compared to second place NMU's 29.

The Oles compete next weekend at the Loch Lomond FIS Race in Thunder Bay, Canada.
