NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Mackenzie Wolter had 22, Kim Cerjan 21 and Nikki Frogner 16 points as St. Olaf held off Hamline University for a 73-71 MIAC women's basketball win on Wednesday night at Skoglund Center.
Steph Pilgrim had a game-high 27 points for Hamline, which had the ball with nine seconds left trailing 72-71. A jumper in the corner missed and St. Olaf secured the rebound and victory, its third in a row.
The Pipers' Jordan Sammons added 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in the loss.
Brittany Webber added a season-best nine points for the Oles (6-6, 4-5 MIAC), who outscored the Pipers 23-8 in the first seven minutes of the second half to take a 15-point lead. Cerjan made a pair of free throws with 31 seconds left to make it a seven-point St. Olaf lead, but HU made back-to-back buckets to make it a two point game.
St. Olaf shot a season-best 54.9 percent from the floor but made only 8-of-15 from the line, including 3-of-8 in the second half. The Oles missed two straight front ends of one-and-one's in the final 30 seconds.
St. Olaf hosts Augsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
