Men's hockey tops Tommies 3-2

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - St. Olaf claimed a 3-2 MIAC men's hockey win over St. Thomas on Friday night behind a 47-save night from Henrik Wood.

Alex Anderson got the game-winner with 30 seconds left in the third period on assists from John Avino and Geoff Gieni. The Oles took a 2-1 lead early in the third on Jeff Harris' second goal of the night. Harris gave St. Olaf a 1-0 lead at the 4:32 mark of the second.

Connor McBride and Alex Altenbernd scored for the Tommies, who outshot St. Olaf 49-22 in the loss. Altenbernd's power-play score at 7:21 of the third tied the game at 2-2.

Wood stopped 19 second period shots and 16 in the third as the Oles (8-8-2, 7-2-0 MIAC) won their third straight and moved within a point of first place in the MIAC. The Oles are the only remaining two-loss team in league play.
