Oles compete at Spirit Mountain Mid-Am

DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's alpine ski team competed in the Spirit Mountain Mid-Am from Jan 25-27 against some of the top competition in the country, as well as racers from seven different countries in Duluth, Minnesota. Nate Hansen placed each day of the event, and Haakon Schonheyder was the highest placing Ole with an eighth place finish.

During the first day of competition, Nate Hansen surged past his initial starting 67th starting position to finish in tenth place. Matt Hoffman also placed in the top 20, finishing with a time of 1:40.37, good for 16th place.

In the second day's race, Haakon Schonheyder put together the best finish of the weekend for St. Olaf, placing 8th with a time of 1:41.42. Hansen also placed in the event with a 16th place time.

The Oles had three placers during the final day of the competition, with Schonheyder taking 11th, Hansen finishing 13th, and Lars Midthun taking 20th.

The Oles next head out to train at Copper Mountain in Colorado. While in Colorado training they will attend races at Sugar Bowl (Truckee, CA.) on Feb. 2nd-4th and at Loveland (Loveland, CO) on Feb. 5th.
