Oles compete at Spirit Mountain Mid-Am

DULUTH, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's alpine ski team competed in the Spirit Mountain Mid-Am from Jan 25-27 against some of the top competition in the country, as well as racers from seven different countries in Duluth, Minnesota. Laura Post and Katie Ulvestad placed each day of the event, with Post finishing with a team high fourth place showing.

During the first day of competition, the Oles had three placers. Katie Ulvestad with a time of 1:31.70 (5th), followed closely by Laura Post's 1:32.23 (7th), and Maddey McLachlan at 1:34.31, good for 15th place.

In the second day's race, St. Olaf put together their best performance with four skiers in the top 20. Ulvestad once again was the Oles' leading skier with a sixth place finish. Post was only .01 second behind her in seventh, and Nathlaie Kenny and McLachlan rounded out the Ole placers with a 16th and 17th finish, respectively.

The Oles had two placers during the final day of competition, with Post taking a team high fourth place and Ulvestad finishing eighth.

The Oles next head out to train at Copper Mountain in Colorado. While in Colorado training they will attend races at Sugar Bowl (Truckee, CA.) on Feb. 2nd-4th and at Loveland (Loveland, CO) on Feb. 5th.
