SJU rallies in third period to defeat Ole men

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Saint John's University scored a 4-2 MIAC men's hockey win over St. Olaf on the heels of a three-goal third period on Thursday night at the National Hockey Center.

St. Olaf carried a 2-1 first period advantage into the third. The Johnnies then got goals from Jascha Pettit, Jason Johnson and Phil Johnson in a 10-plus minute stretch to pick up the win.

The Johnnies (11-7-4, 6-4-3 MIAC) outshot the Oles (10-10-2, 9-4-0) 34-18, including 24-8 over the final two periods. The game was played nearly penalty free. Saint John's was whistled at the 0:20 mark of the first period for the game's only penalty.

St. Olaf capitalized with Jeff Harris' power-play goal at 0:51. Nick Marsh also scored for the Oles in the period.

The teams meet in the series finale tomorrow night at Northfield Ice Arena at 7:30 p.m.
