Men's tennis falls to UW-La Crosse in season opener

ROCHESTER, Minn.- The St. Olaf men's tennis team lost their season-opening match 6-3 to UW-La Crosse on Friday night at Rochester Tennis Center.
The Eagles (4-2) won four of the six singles matches and also took two of the three doubles matches. Senior Andy Catania picked up wins in both singles and doubles for St. Olaf, while sophomore Nico Gibb also earned a singles win.
Catania defeated UW-La Crosse's Vic Mirasola 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, while Gibb beat Matt Bulger 7-6, 6-2 at sixth singles. The Eagles won thee of the other four singles matches in straight sets. The lone set St. Olaf won in those matches came from first-year Joey Kronzer in a 1-6, 6-2, 11-9 loss to Kyle McGrane.
In doubles, Catania teamed with sophomore Stephen Nolan to defeat Kevin McMillen and McGrane 8-4 at first doubles.
St. Olaf looks to pick up their first win of the year on Saturday when they face Concordia College in Owatonna. The Ole men and women both take on Concordia at 1:30 pm.
