Ole women qualify for USCSA nationals

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The St. Olaf women's alpine ski team took first at the USCSA Regional Championships and earned a trip to the USCSA National Championships led by Katie Ulvestad's first place finish in the slalom at Marquette Mountain this weekend.

The Oles earned four of the top five places in the first day's slalom event, led by Ulvestad's first place time of 1:16.13, which was nearly a second ahead of the next closest competitor. The other Ole placers in the event were Laura Post (third), Nathalie Kenny (fourth), Madison McLachlan (fifth) and McKenna McNabb (tenth).

In the giant slalom, St. Olaf took three of the top five spots and were once again led by Ulvestad, who earned second place in the event. In addition to Ulvestad, the Oles had McLachlan (third), McNabb (fourth), and Post (ninth) place in the top ten.

Overall, St.Olaf was in control the entire tournament with only 17 total points. Their next closest competitor, the club team from NMU, finished with 80 points.

The Oles will compete next at the USCSA National Championship in Sun Valley, Idaho March 5-9.
