Oles rally, but Gusties hold on for MIAC playoff win

ST. PETER, Minn. - St. Olaf rallied from a 3-0 deficit to get within one, but Gustavus Adolphus College outlasted the visiting Oles 3-2 in a MIAC men's hockey first round playoff game on Friday night.
Trailing 3-0 early in the second St. Olaf scored twice, on goals from Joel Lundstrom and Dan Cecka, to make it 3-2 into the third.
St. Olaf held a 10-8 advantage in shots in the final period, but couldn't get the game-tying score.
Gustavus peppered St. Olaf goaltender Henrik Wood in the first period, but Wood made 23 saves on 25 shots to keep the Oles in the game. He finished the night with 37 saves in the tough-luck loss.
Each team collected five penalties and went 0-for-3 on power play chances.
The playoff appearance was the Oles' ninth in the last 10 seasons.
