SUN VALLEY, Idaho - The St. Olaf men's alpine ski team finished third in the giant slalom on Wednesday at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Championships.

St. Olaf overcame a 12-second deficit after the first run to move from fourth to third.

Runs by Haakon Schonheyder (5th), Paal Proitz (10th) and Matt Hoffman, who started 101st and moving to 34th, helped the Oles move from fourth to third.

The St. Olaf women, who were also third in the giant slalom, will compete in the slalom on Thursday with the men going on Friday.
