Nick Kulla and David Salzwedel each went 2-for-2 for the Oles in the loss. St. Olaf (4-1, 0-0 MIAC) stranded two in the sixth and had the tying run on third in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't score.
St. Olaf fell behind 4-1, but strung together single runs in the third, fourth and fifth to get within a run.
On Wednesday, St. Olaf finishes its schedule in the Metrodome with a doubleheader against Wartburg College at 6:30 p.m.
