HOUSTON - St. Olaf sophomore Michael Gratz finished fourth in the 200 Individual Medley on Wednesday night at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, to earn All-America honors with his 1:49.13 effort the second-best individual mark in school history.

Gratz swam a 1:49.44 in the morning prelims to qualify for the final. His time in the final came within .57 seconds of the school record, held by Nelson Westby (March 20, 2008).

St. Olaf is ninth as a team after the first day on the heels of Gratz' fourth place finish and a ninth place finish for the 200 Medley Relay. The relay squad of Evan Griffith, Colby Kubat, Billy Brebrick and Tanner Roe swam to a 1:31.06 to earn the victory in the consolation final. The team narrowly missed, by .49 seconds, the championship final.

Roe's 19.89-second final leg of the relay was the second-best in the event.
