Oles get walk-off win in game one, fall in game two with Benedictine

AUBURNDALE, Fla - Sam Maus connected on a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning in game one to help St. Olaf top Benedictine 8-7 in eight innings, before the Oles dropped game two 7-5 on Thursday in a non-conference baseball doubleheader.
Jack Schechinger went a combined 5-for-7 in the series, including a 4-for-4 effort in game two with a homer and a double.
Game One: St. Olaf 8, Benedictine 7 (8 inn.)
Maus' single capped four straight hits, as the Oles scored twice in the eighth. Benedictine took the lead in the top of the inning with an unearned run on a Maus error.
Maus was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Adam Johnson 3-for-4 for the St. Olaf in the victory.
St. Olaf used three pitchers. Joey Voss improved to 3-0 by working the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and the unearned run in the eighth.
Game Two: Benedictine 7, St. Olaf 5
Benedictine scored six runs in the fourth inning to turn a 5-1 deficit to a 7-5 lead.
Schechinger drove in a pair with his two-run homer in the third inning. The Oles added three runs in the fourth before Benedictine plated six in the bottom of the inning on six hits and three walks.
