HOUSTON - The St. Olaf men's swimming and diving team finished ninth in the 400 Freestyle Relay to cap an 11th place team finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.

The all-underclassmen relay squad of Tanner Roe, Billy Brebrick, Colby Kubat and Michael Gratz finished as the top group in the consolation final with a time of 3:01.43. The time broke a school record, one that stood since 1987 (3:04.58), by over three seconds.

Kubat picked up an All-America honorable mention individual swim moments earlier, when he finished 11th in the 200 Breast in a personal-best time of 2:01.36. His second place finish on Friday was the team's best individual finish and was .48 seconds from Nelson Westby's school record, one he set in a national title swim in 2009.

The 11th place team finish is the best for St. Olaf since finishing fourth in 2009.
