Wins over Houghton, Union cap Florida trip for softball

CLERMONT, Fla. - Alex Lebens and Jessica Wilson had a combined four hits each as St. Olaf picked up two softball wins on Thursday, defeated Houghton College 10-4 and Union College (N.Y.) 3-0.

Becca Walz was 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs while Lebens (2-for-5), Wilson (2-for-5) and Mackenzie Wolter (2-for-3, 2 BB) had two hits each. Wolter also stole two bases and drove and scored three runs.

Walz' two-run homer came in the seventh, an inning after the Oles rallied for four runs on four hits.

Kristen Rudberg worked the final 3 1/3 innings to get the win for St. Olaf. Rudberg allowed a run on two hits and two walks.

Danielle Collins tossed a four-hit complete game shutout, while striking out six, as St. Olaf won for the second time in the day.

Lebens, Wilson and Natalie Mironov were each 2-for-3 for the Oles, who did all of their damage in the fourth inning. The team had five hits in the inning, including run-scoring knocks by Julie Fergus, Jenna Bordreau and Mironov.

St. Olaf was 5-5 on its 10-game trip in Florida.
