Oles plate six in seventh in game two to save split

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Olaf scored six runs on six hits in the top of the seventh in game two to pick up a 8-2 win and series split with host Carleton College, which won the opener 4-3, in a MIAC softball doubleheader on Saturday.
Game One: Carleton 4, St. Olaf 3
Carleton scored all four of its runs in the first inning and held off St. Olaf for the 4-3 win. The Oles mounted a rally in the seventh inning. Maggie Scholer singled to lead off the inning and Mackenzie Wolter doubled with two outs, but each were stranded.
The Oles rallied for three runs in the fourth inning on four hits, including a two-run single from Julie Fergus. Fergus and Alex Lebens each went 2-for-3 for St. Olaf in the loss.
Game Two: St. Olaf 8, Carleton 2
The Oles' six-run outburst broke a 2-2 tie and was helped by a Carleton error. St. Olaf had doubles from Natalie Mironov, Jess Wilson and Haley Schreier in the rally. Maggie Scholer, who also drove in a run in the inning, and Mironov had two hits each for St. Olaf in the win.
Danielle Collins went the distance for St. Olaf, allowing six hits while striking out five.
Katrina Harper and Jenny Ramey had two hits each for Carleton.
St. Olaf plays at Concordia-Moorhead tomorrow before heading to Macalester College on Monday.
