Cardinals, Oles split MIAC baseball twinbill

WINONA, Minn. - St. Olaf rode a six-hit complete game from Anders Dzurak in a 3-1 game one victory, and Saint Mary's topped St. Olaf 5-2 in game two as the teams split an MIAC baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Game One: St. Olaf 3, Saint Mary's 1
Dzurak allowed six hits and walked none as the Oles picked up two early runs and never trailed. David Salzwedel went 2-for-3 with a run for the Oles, who added an insurance run in the seventh.

Kevin Miley went 2-for-3 for the Cardinals.

Game Two: Saint Mary's 5, St. Olaf 2
SMU strung together five hits in a four-run third inning to turn a one-run deficit to a 5-2 lead.

St. Olaf stranded six runners in the loss, including two in the fourth inning. Adam Johnson led the frame off with a double he and Salzwedel, who singled in the inning, were left on base.

Drew Denning went 2-for-3 for Saint Mary's (12-11, 3-5 MIAC).

St. Olaf (15-8, 4-2 MIAC) plays at St. Thomas on Sunday.
