St. Olaf bounced from MIAC softball playoffs

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - St. Olaf was eliminated from the MIAC softball playoffs on Saturday as the Oles lost twice, dropping a 10-2 decision to Bethel before an 11-2 loss to Gustavus.
St. Olaf (15-17) won twice yesterday to claim a spot in the double elimination final four.
Bethel 10, St. Olaf 2
The Royals scored three in the second and two in the third and never turned back. Bethel had four players with two hits and scored in every inning but the first in the 10-2, run-rule victory.
Becca Walz homered in the top of the first for St. Olaf, but the Oles managed only three other hits in the loss. Julie Fergus had two and Jess Wilson the other, a solo homer in the sixth.
Gustavus 11, St. Olaf 2
The Gusties plated eight runs in the third inning on the way to the 11-2 win.
St. Olaf took a 2-1 lead on a two-run homer by Haley Schreier, her third of the tournament, in the second inning. Gustavus then sent 11 to the plate in the third, collecting seven hits while taking advantage of an error and three walks in the rally.
Five Gusties had two hits, led by Kate Rentschle, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
